Shamanic Counseling & Coaching Workshop Series

This series of workshops is part of the apprenticeship program in shamanic healing, counseling and coaching sponsored by Mikkal and the CROWS NEST CENTER FOR SHAMANIC STUDIES in the Southwestern Michigan woodlands. It is open to those interested in developing shamanic healing services for the public, including classic shamanic work, shamanic psychotherapy, counseling and coaching.

Mikkal, brings to this program his background as an initiated shamanic healer in three indigenous traditions, Ecuadoran Quechua Iachak, Mexican Nahua-Toltec, and Cherokee healing systems, and as a former personal student of the late Mircea Eliade and of Robert L. Moore. As clinical and Jungian psychologist, medical anthropologist, and author of scholarly books on Shamanism, Jungian psychology, and of scientific publications in the medical and psychiatric fields. Mikkal has developed a basic theoretical system that integrates all these influences, and a number of other modern psychological resources into a Little Psychology of the Heart, that helps integrate shamanic resources with virtually any modern psychological system. He has created a 2 year apprenticeship workshop series that combines didactic, experiential learning, with shamanic ceremonial work, chanting, and supportive community (Hollow Bone Medicine Society).

The two year program leading to certification involves 3 workshops per year, plus a week long Vision Quest in the Second week of August during the first year, and attendance of the Wounded Healer Summer School, the subsequent August, run currently with the Vision Quest….this year Aug 7-14, 2009.

                                      Curriculumn
Each workshop involves ceremonial Fire Talks, experiential learning, dyadic partnership practice, and study in between workshops, with plenty of sacred ceremony, shamanic journeying, process journaling, and spiritual community. Some of the Content is suggested under the following three headings.

Shamanism, Jung, and Transpersonal Basics
Basic Jungian psychological concepts are discussed and many of them learned experientially through journey work. The relation between the collective unconscious,  and the shamanic spirit world, relationship between soul loss, and personal unconscious and Shadow Work with shamanic resources. Relationship between complexes, problem patterns, and shamanic soul loss and retrieval. Learn the Basic archetypes and gods of mythology directly through journey work, and discover how they help your client activate and bring potentials and facets of self on line. Importance of symbol, talisman making, felt-sensing and soul recovery and integration leading to increased wholeness.

Heart Psychology
:
Integrating Psychological and Shamanic Languages and Resources so that you have an accessible and easy to use language for clients and supervisors or third parties. Heart psychology embraces virtually any depth psychology and resource, honors the shamanic heart path and correlates with the Jungian individuation process. It has methods for rapid assessment, helping the client find and begin using their hearts to create a life they want.
It brings a sharp and penetrating set of Core Questions to rapidly identify whatever is the way of the client living their heart path. Taps focusing oriented resources and felt-sensing to track or stalk down and remove problem patterns and anything in the way of the kind of life or goal the client really wants. The Iachak component of heart theory and practice stresses using the capacity to find and use the heart to live, and to protect it. The Nahua- Toltec component uses penetrating tools to transform the mind into a servant of the heart, instead of being its master.

Client Skills
: Based in Heart Psychology, Focusing oriented listening skills, Core Questions, coaching protocols for rapid assessment and client planning are taught. Assessment and Treatment Strategies regarding the exact problem and successfully removing (extracting or dissolving) it and fid a satisfying and workable way forward.
Learn the heart-psych method of analysis of a problem, and how to find a way forward.
Assessment and Pinpointing Likely Areas of Soul Loss and Intrusion
Clinical and Coaching Methods for treating soul loss and how to integrate classic soul retrieval and extraction clinically and via long distance heart-centered coaching.
Talisman, Symbols, Myth, and Art Therapy, Music Therapy Resources for retrieving and integrating part selves and repressed potentials.
Use of the shamanic journey with clients for assessment and intervention.
Using your Spirit Guides to help you in assessment and in assisting your client.
